Salesforce Summer 21’ Release Notes

For those of you who are in the Salesforce space, you probably know that Salesforce has three major releases per year across most of its cloud products. This means that as a Salesforce customer or professional you automatically get access to new features every single release. As you can likely imagine given the fact that Salesforce has many different cloud products and technologies, keeping up with these releases can be overwhelming, but worry not, here at theCodery, we’ve got you covered on the Summer 21 release.

Summer 21’ is just around the corner with releases starting across Salesforce instances as soon as May 15th and deploying to all Salesforce orgs by June 12th. You can check out when your instance is scheduled to be upgraded by accessing the release calendar on and looking up your instance to see exactly when you’ll get access to these new features. The team at theCodery has compiled our favorite Summer 21’ release features and outlined them for you below so you don’t have to read every single new release note!

  1. Access to even more predefined APIs! 

One of the major value points of Salesforce as a platform is its ability to integrate with external systems to create an all-in-one working environment for your users. In the Summer 21 release, Salesforce is extending its API catalog to access and accept more APIs from tools such as Slack and OKTA .

2. Improved visibility into why a user has access to a record

Sharing visibility is a delicate topic within Salesforce and with many different ways to grant users access to records (profiles, permission sets, sharing rules, programmatic sharing, manual sharing, etc.) it can be difficult to unwind exactly why a user has access to a record. Coming in Summer 21’ you will have more detailed access as to why a user has access to a particular record! Additionally, in this release, we are gaining access to a BETA feature called “Restriction rules” to add even more security and peace of mind to your Salesforce org.

3. Dynamic Action Bar for App Pages

With the increased flexibility and declarative customization options coming to lightning with each release, it’s no surprise that we now have the ability to not only dynamic show/hide buttons and actions on the page, but now we will have the ability to dynamically show/hide entire action bars. This is a huge win for Salesforce records that have multiple hand-offs and guided processes as they move through the workflow as you can now keep your users focused on the features that matter!

4. Sales Team Pipeline Inspection 

This new feature is a huge win for Sales and Sales Operations teams! This feature allows teams to work across multiple opportunities and grab tangible data-driven insights across pipelines in order to determine the current status and momentum their opportunities have at both an individual and global level across the organization. This new tool should allow for more accurate forecasting, identify key areas to address within the pipeline, and determine if the current level of activity is adequate for particular opportunities.


 5. Salesforce Meetings 

This feature has many “sub-features” that fall underneath it. One of the major benefits of Salesforce meetings is providing your users with another feature that lets them stay focused inside Salesforce for managing day-to-day tasks. Historically, meetings in Salesforce has been more of a “placeholder” to show you that you have a specific activity coming up at a specific time with the attendees associated. Now with this new feature you will have the ability to:

  • Take actions on your attendees such as updating their contact details in Salesforce right from the meeting, sending emails from the meeting, and adding attendees who aren’t currently in your Salesforce system as contacts / leads with a click of a button!

  • Meeting digest will surface key information about your attendees such as recent high-priority cases, insights from previous email communications, and other series of follow up actions.

  • Zoom Integration features with Salesforce meetings to allow reps with access to send availability and schedule zoom meetings all in one (with Salesforce inbox)!
